Micah, Randi, & Ryan take on 2024
Also, the realization that the only photos I ever take anymore are of Ryan so hope you’re ready for some serious baby spam.
As the year ends, it’s hard to believe we’ve been a family of three for over a year. Reflecting on this trip around the sun, we feel immense gratitude for the incredible community of people around us that listen, love, and inspire us.
This year brought challenges, growth, change, highs, lows, and above all, so much love.

Micah
PHOTOGRAPHER, CHEF, LOVING HUSBAND, DIAPER DO-ER EXTRAORDINAIRE, BATH GIVER, “DADA”
Micah is still immersed in photography, working with exciting clients and even traveling for shoots—his recent trip to Vancouver included a helicopter ride up a mountain for a project! A true enthusiast of Seinfeld, music, and poker, he’s also looking forward to introducing Ryan to all things on a board—snowboarding, skateboarding, and maybe even surfing.
Through it all, he’s an incredible father, chef, and partner. We’re so grateful for our present and deeply involved “da-da.”

Randi
DESIGNER, TOY ASSEMBLER, CLEAN FREAK, SNACK MAKER, EXPERT PACKER, BARE FOOT “MAMA”
This year has been a whirlwind and we’re trying to learn to balance who we were with who we’ve become. I’m looking forward to rediscovering some hobbies in the coming year and sharing them with Ryan.
I feel so fortunate to have spent much of this year on maternity leave. After unexpected layoffs in my department, I gained more time with Ryan than I ever imagined, which I’ve absolutely cherished. I’ve been exploring what’s next for work while picking up freelance projects.
It’s been so special to soak up these extra moments with Ryan and our families —whether we’re exploring parks, meeting up with friends, or just running around our city.

Ryan
SOCIAL BUTTERFLY, MESS MAKER, FUN HAVER, DARE DEVIL, DANCE DANCER, WIGGLY SILLY GOOSE GIRLIE
Ryan’s year has been amazing—she went from teething to sitting, crawling, walking, running, and now talking! Despite some bumps like sick days and an ER visit, she continues to amaze us with her resilience and constant smile.
She loves snacks, being social, park outings, coffee shop visits to see Georgia, music, dancing, and playing with her favorite “meow-meows” and “woof-woofs.” Watching her grow has been the greatest gift.
We celebrated her (and Micah!) with a fun birthday pool party, themed “nana” because she loves bananas!

Jan - March
We hosted the Pruddens and Stilwells for the holidays, visited Temecula and saw Danielle, spent time with friends and family, took Ryan to her first museum, and much more! The Sedmaks visited and met Ryan for the first time! Ryan learned to sit, started eating solids, began rolling, and moved to her own room. We also met the Hasdals in Rancho Palos Verdes and enjoyed many other memorable moments with friends and family.

April - June
Our little one hit big milestones: sitting up, crawling, and cutting her first tooth. We enjoyed a first night out alone as parents, a family work trip to Dana Point, and a visit from the Pruddens. Ryan began standing and waving, then she mastered high fives and clapping during our Ohio trip - her first ride in an airplane, with many to come! A fun friend filled Father’s Day, swimming, and beach days added to the fun!

July - September
From late June to early August, we were in Ohio splitting the time between the two families. It was a trip to remember - enjoying the fair, the aquarium, a family reunion, dance parties, boat rides, and plenty of sun and swimming. When we got back to LA in August, Ryan took her first steps and things have been “go-go” since then! Then we had Ryan’s first birthday, Micah’s birthday, my birthday, and our wedding anniversary.

October - December
I weaned Ryan— a bittersweet step toward her growing up but gave us a lot more freedom and flexibility. We spent tons of time at the park and on the go with old and new friends. Her vocabulary blossomed with words like “that,” “wow,” “dada,” “hot,” and cute animal sounds, including meows, barks, and even elephant noises. We ended the year flying back to Ohio to be with our families for a month, wrapping up another special season.
This year looked different from those before — more quiet nights in and less traveling — but it’s also been filled with more smiles and laughter than ever. Parenthood is hard, but it’s also the most beautiful, rewarding journey we’ve ever been on.
Some wonder, how can anyone bring a child into a world that can feel so dark at times, given the state of the country and the challenges we face - especially for women and now having a daughter. But we see it as an opportunity—to raise someone who is kind, loving, and a light to those around her. Ryan has already brought so much joy into our lives, our neighbors, friends, and family - we hope she grows up to spread that same joy to others.
Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a heart full of love and joy as we step into 2025. Thank you for being part of our story, you mean so much to us!
Love always,
Randi, Micah, and Ryan
